Dr Sketchy Manchester at Bury Art Gallery 31.8.12

I had a fantastic night at Bury Art Gallery a couple of weeks ago covering the recent Dr Sketchy Manchester night "Jazz the Hang".

Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art school is a worldwide alternative drawing movement. Artists have the opportunity to draw glamorous and unique performers in cool surroundings, complimented by great music and a glass of wine (or two). Founded by artists Molly Crabapple and A.V. Phibes. in 2005 in a Brooklyn bar Dr. Sketchy's has now spread to over 100 cities around the world. The Manchester branch is run by Lee Crocker and events are held around the city.

At Bury Art Gallery burlesque artiste Bonnie Petite and musician Black Jack entertained us with original song and dance, as well as posing for the artists in attendance. Lee provided a musical backdrop with tracks by the likes of The Clash and Johnny Cash. It was a fun, relaxed night and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Many thanks to Bonnie, Black Jack, Lee, Gillian, Diane, Kirsty and all the artists on the night.

Here's a selection of photographs.................
